And we are ALL ABOUT common sense. Just remember, when the ball is above your feet, when you hit it, it will always go “below” you feet. Take a look.

This is what happens when I get involved in spring cleaning. We found this Abe hat and my young son thought it would be pretty funny so … anyway. I guess you can take this tip from Honest Abe. If I had to choose the one difference between a Tour pro or scratch player and the average golfer it would be “The Bow.”

This weekend, watch a little golf on TV (or whatever you watch golf on these days). Notice the pro bending over when he or she addresses the ball. That tilt or bow, is about 30 degrees. Watch how long the pro keeps “the bow” throughout the swing. Now you try it.

Enjoy the game again.

You don’t nee a tray of dishes. Use a golf ball, a clip board, your significant other’s chrystal salt and pepper shakers, and in seconds you’ll learn the correct poistion of your back arm position at the top of your backswing. Be careful …

While it’s been pounded into our brain that you just have to have the latest, greatest, longest driver in your bag, here’s a little surprise. If your club head speed is around average (for most amateurs that’s 75 mph), you’re definitely hurting your game. To successfully use a driver, your club head speed should be about 100 mph or more. What this video and find out why.

Your putter head will go slightly inside to square to keep the ball on track. Very visual. Very easy. A very good way to keep putting practice on track!

The idea has been used often but I still think this is the easiest way to explain one of the most basic of basic fundamentals.

Think of a train track. You stand on the edge of one rail (toe line), the golf ball sits on the other rail (aiming line). Most golfers aim as if those two lines intersect out there somewhere. They don’t.

Let’s say you’re aiming just below the pin, that’s where you want the ball to land. Most golfers will turn their shoulders toward the pin or “aim at the pin.” That is a guarantee you are going to be several feet or several yards on one side of the pin or the other.

Don’t let the “rails” cross and you be cutting strokes in no time.

– Steve

P.S. Thanks for your comments. Please feel free to ask any question about golf you want to. You’ll get a quick answer!
