Here's a secret my mentor, the legendary Ken Venturi, showed me that will lead to exceptional chipping. I see amateurs get out their sand wedge or pitching wedge and try to pop the ball to the pin when they're close. Put those wedges back in the bag. Nine times out of 10 you'll blow it. Mr. Venturi's advice: get it on the green and let it roll to the pin. Just like I did with the bowling ball. You play this game for fun, right? Well, it's fun getting the lowest score! And a good short game is where that's going to happen.
