If you get a double bogey on your first hole I can virtually guarantee you rushed your shot. You also probably also rushed to the course, rushed to the tee and ... you know the rest of the story. Some of us (most of us?) tend to be on the impatient side of just about, well, everything. My mentor, legendary Ken Venturi, gave me the greatest advice about rushing a game.
Check out my video and see if you agree.

A BIG CONGRATS to one of my best students ever, Alex Medinas from Ft. Myers. Alex just earned his Tour card to play on the MacKenzie Pro Tour in Canada. He shot 9-under par over the four day tournament. Our first lesson together was when he was about 7 years old and he’s now in his early 20’s. He’s won many tournaments over his junior and now pro career, so way to go Alex, very proud of you!!
It’s always the best feeling to get an email from a student and member of Mirror Image Golf Swing hearing of their recent successes. I just got this one (below) from one of my long time students, Jim W. from Canada and it sure sounds like he’s having a great season.

I was able to win the Club Championship again, that makes two years in a row.
I want to thank you for all your good teaching over the years.
Following your advice you gave this year I also changed my shafts to senior flex and yes the ball goes higher and farther which has certainly helped my game.
The short game lessons you gave me got me close to the hole many times and I’ve been, ‘Shining my flashlight just like you said in one of your tips.
Thanks
Your Student
Jim
PS
I’m leading our Men’s League as well with only 3 weeks left.
Well I had a ‘fun’ one last week. After having a really sore foot for over a month I went to the foot doctor (who’s also one of my students) and the x-ray showed that I have a broken bone in the ball of my foot. Hmm, no wonder it hurt. The funny thing is I don’t know when or how I broke it. I never came down hard on it or banged or or anything and some days it didn’t hurt at all. Other than golfing and teaching golf all day, I like going to the gym and jogging most days too. Somewhere between those three activities I broke it. So, I’m wearing ‘the boot’ for 6 weeks and everyone’s calling me ‘Hop-a-long’ but it really doesn’t hurt too much. I’m still doing all my lessons and can even swing if I take it easy so not too bad.
On a much more exciting note, our web team has been working hard on our new version of the web site. It’ll have a totally different look and some great new features so stay tuned and we’ll let you all know when it’s ready.
Professional golf is moving into a great new era now that we have such a crop of great young players that always seems to be in the hunt. With Jordan, Ricky, Dustin, and Jason Day and others, golf is once again giving people someone to root for that they know. The past few years with Tiger having all of his troubles there hasn’t been ‘that guy’ that everyone wants to watch on TV. For 15 years we all tuned in to see what Tiger was doing and the golf he played was incredible. I have to admit I haven’t watched much golf the past few years without him. I have no doubt that this year’s Masters might just be the highest watched in history and that one of those top 5 guys, including Rory and Adam Scott will make it truly memorable. I hope Tiger comes back sometime but until he does it’s great that we have so many great players all going at it every week.
I just got my new issue of a monthly golf magazine (I won’t say which one) and again was slightly pulling my hair out. There were two articles, both about playing a long, tough hole. The first pro said to pull out the driver and try to crush it. He said if he was going to land in the rough he might as well be 50 yards farther down anyway and don’t be afraid of a tough hole.
The next article, nearly on the next page said when you’re playing a long tough hole, play smart and take a shorter club off the tee, maybe even an iron to play safe and smart. Making a bogey on this hole won’t be too bad of a score so play for it.
Hmm, could these two articles be any different or confusing to most folks? I’ve written many times in my career about what a Tour pro does might now be the best advice for the average player to follow. These guys are the best 100 golfers in the whole world and they can do things that 99% of us ‘regular’ folks can’t. Just because a top player does something it might not be what you want to do. I’ve jokingly said that just because a car in the Indy 500 goes 210 mph it doesn’t mean that you want to drive 210 mph. The average player doesn’t have the swing or time to do what the Tour pros do so following their advice can be risky.
By the way, on that long, hard, tight hole, I’d play smart off the tee and avoid the trouble by hitting a shorter club. It’s always best to get the ball in play and hope for a great up and down par!
I had a GREAT time at the PGA Show last week. The highlight of course was presenting an education seminar to our membership on using social media effectively. My publisher and Mirror Image partner Paul deVere was a speaker with me and he did a terrific job too. I just got an email from Allen Wronowski (below) who is the immediate Past President of the PGA of America. It sure made my whole day coming from a guy like that. Can’t wait until next year!

Hi Steve,
Always a treat seeing you too my friend and thanks for the pictures.
So glad your seminar went so well, not surprised though. You are a great talent and asset to the game of golf and our association. God bless – Allen
Got this email the other day from one of my favorite students, Jim Williamson. Jim comes down from Canada each season and I’ve taught him many times. We had a lesson the day before he played in a big event at his club and he ended up winning the event! His email is below and I”m so proud of him.
HI Steve,
this was the first tournament in the series. As low handicap I had to hit first and the pressure was on. The highest score gets eliminated on each hole. Lots of excitement for old men.I played with the thoughts of our lesson yesterday and….. finished first! Yahoo! Thanks for the great lesson Steve, it really clicked in and led me to victory!

Wow, Jordan does it again!!! What a tournament he just had for another victory. We were talking at my course yesterday about if the way Jordan is playing could rival how Tiger played in his prime. I love Tiger but oh my, Jordan is simply flawless and might even be better. He doesn’t seem to have any weaknesses in his game and his mental toughness is right up there with Tiger’s too. Going to be a fun year in golf for sure.
I got an email today from one of my long time students, Terry Hammond. He had some great news, he got a hole in one today on a 165-yard hole at The Plantation Country Club, here in Ft. Myers. I told him he has to buy me a drink later. What a great way to end the year!
I hope everyone had a great holiday season. We all did and I think the kids are still opening presents! Unlike most places in the U.S., all of us in Florida are just now gearing up for our high season and getting ready for the influx of Northern visitors. I stay frantically busy with lessons from now until Easter but it’s so much fun seeing all my great students.
One of them I saw today, Dave Ellis. Dave was in one of my recent tips and is one of my favorite guys to teach. Today we had our playing lesson where we actually go on the golf course. I was showing Dave one of the best shots in golf, the 5-iron punch shot from 30-50 yards away from the green. When you don’t have to hit over something it’s a good idea to keep the ball low and run it up onto the green. After explaining how to stand and execute the shot, Dave tried it a few times from about 40-yards away. Then on his third or fourth attempt, he hit a really crisp one that was tracking right toward the green. It got on the green, rolled and rolled and rolled and then, BINGO, right in the hole! He was excited to say the least and we had a great ‘high five” It’s a great shot to have in your bag and I’ve done a video on it a few times in the past so look it up in the ‘video vault. Fun stuff!
Hi Everyone,
Well the holidays are right around the corner. For those of you who live in SW Florida, or are going to be visiting this season, a great Christmas present for the golfer in your family is a Gift Certificate for lessons. You can get a certificate for a single lesson or for one of my series of lessons. It makes a great gift and one that will last a lifetime. Call or email me and we can do it right over the phone. It’ll save you a trip to the mall too.
I had a fun one at my golf course on Sat. We recently hired a nice, new assistant professional that’s just getting started in the game. He’s very enthusiastic and is going to have a nice career. He was getting his clubs to go out to give a lesson to a beginning golfer. I asked him how many lessons he has given in his career and he said, “this will be my third.”
He then asked me how lessons I’ve given in my career and I answered, “about 60,000.”
Wow, made me feel really old in a hurry, ha, ha! As I hope will happen with him, I’ve loved giving every single one of them and always look forward to helping a student with their game.
Hi all. I had a fun day teaching today. My first 3 students were returning snowbirds coming for their first lesson of the year. All of them had lost some of their basic fundamentals since last year which is very common. I felt so good that they all saw the new tip up on the site a few days ago and were hitting the ball much better today than when they called me last week. The new tip about turning the shoulders back and then finishing up on their toe is what all of them needed and they were fantastic within just a few minutes. Nothing makes me feel better than knowing the weekly tips are helping our members out. Fun stuff.
I had a great one on my facebook newsfeed today. One of my super juniors, Tanner White from St. Louis was the medalist in his last high school match, shooting 1-under par 71. He’s 16 now and he comes to see me every summer for a bunch of lessons. His high school team finished the year undefeated and this weekend they play for the State Championships! We’ve worked together since he was a little fella and now he’s a fantastic player. Makes me proud to see what a fine young man he’s turned into.
No one more than me loves when the calendar says October and we finally get a break from the 90’s. The range gets over 100 degrees most days for about 4-5 months and it’s pretty hard to stand out there all day. I must love (and I do) teaching the game and seeing all my students improve and start enjoying the game more. The last few days with some clouds and rain the high temps have been great.
For those of you that Facebook, check out my page at Mirror Image Golf Swing. I just posted a video with my star pupil, Gil Lanoue swinging his driver. I can honestly say that in 35 years of teaching the game and seeing millions of swings, that Gil has the best swing I’ve ever seen and his power is amazing. This drive went well over 350-yards, and he had one the other day that went 382 ! If you want to see a great swing, check it out, it’s pretty impressive.
What an absolute amazing season Jordan, Jason, Ricky, Rory and Dustin have had. Keeping your game at the highest level for an entire season is incredible. It seems those guys have won every tournament this year or at least have been in contention. Anyone can play well for a few weeks but these guys and been on their A game all season. With Tiger having a few off years and now out until next year, the game needed some stars and these guys have stepped up to the plate. The game is healthy and the scores they’re shooting and the distances they’re hitting the ball are truly amazing!
The new lefty section of the web site is nearly ready so I’m excited about that. If you have any lefty friends you can turn them onto it. They’ll have their own special section and will get a copy of my first book, “On the Other Hand’ that just came out in its 7th printing. Can’t wait.
Another big win for Jason Day. What a great player AND a nice guy. Along with Jordan, Rory and Dustin, golf is looking pretty healthy lately.
The most amazing stat I heard while watching yesterday was this. For all 13 holes that Day hit a driver or 3-wood on Sat. his average yardage left to the greens was 162 yards. On Sunday, for the same 13 holes, his average yardage left was 161 yards! That’s amazing and shows how consistent his tee shots are. The same yardage into the greens for both days to within a yard. We’d all shoot some pretty good scores if we did that right?
Well Tiger seems to be on the prowl in this weeks tournament. A 64 yesterday and 1 under thru 9 holes today. The announcers just said that they printed an extra 45,000 tickets this week since Tiger was making his first appearance in this tournament and that the merchandise sales yesterday were 40% higher than for the whole week last year. Love him or hate, Tiger is still the biggest draw in the game. Be interesting to see what he does over the weekend.
It’s National Left-Handers Day today so yippee for all of use lefties. Getting excited too that in about a week we’ll be launching a ‘Lefty’ tab on the web site, exclusively for us ‘Southpaws’. Lefties can join the site and get a copy of my 1st book, ‘On the Other Hand’ which is coming out in its new 7th printing. It’s always fun to see an updated version with a new cover.
Subject: Re: Dominate eye test can change your game forever. – Autoforwarded
Hi Steve, I’m right eyed dominant. Being a lefty,I want to aim left but when I do the ball goes left or my brain makes me come over the top and yank it right. How can I overcome the fear of aiming properly when I think I’ll pull the ball to the right.

Hey Jack, hope you’re well.
As you know from all our lessons, aiming is THE hardest thing to do. It is an advantage that you play lefty but have the right eye being dominant. It’s closer to the hole when you line up and that does help from the full swing to the putting. You might remember that I putt right handed even though I do everything else left handed. My dominant left eye can see more of the hole since I’m lining up right handed.
Most people like you have the ingrained pull to the right because you aim to the left too often as I do sometimes too. Our brain knows way over to the left isn’t correct so we have to pull it to get it back on line. I see it with nearly every student I teach, pros too.
How to fix it? No trick really except ALWAYS practicing with your alignment poles that you lay down like train tracks. Hitting a lot of balls with the pole at your feet on the range hopefully will transfer to the golf course. You even see the pros on TV while they’re on the range using poles too. They need it and you need it. We all do. For starters you could take a few little half swings with a 7-iron and try to start the ball a few yards to the left (for you being a lefty). Almost like you’re intentionally trying to push the ball some. This encourages your arms to swing out that way. Driving your lower body more and sooner also helps gets those arms going out. If your lower body doesn’t move then the arms tend to pass you and there’s the pull. Turn your lower body and the arms will go out better.
Try it all out and keep me informed.
I played in the pro-am at my course today as part of the big Nolan Henke/Patty Berg junior classic that will be held the next 3 days. Tons of rain and several delays but managed to have a pretty good round of 1-over. I don’t get a chance to play 18 much anymore so it was my first 18 hole round in a long time. I was struck by something I tell my students every day and that’s the importance of the short game. My ball striking was a little sloppy the first few holes, not hitting greens or fairways but my putting and short game was spot on. I 1-putted the first 6 greens so saved my score. I was 1-under for the first 7 holes and easily could have been 7-over. So, the old saying that 75% of your score is short game certainly held true for me and it will for you too.!!

Hi Steve
I thought I would try my first email swing fix/remediation diagnosis. I have been working on new swing with good results. Hitting ball solid, decent distance and often a straight or draw ball flight. Misses are generally hooks or pulls. Main problem is ball starts left of target probably 90% of the time. So ball ends up in far left of fairway or left rough. I’m constantly checking my setup and alignment and it looks good. I just can’t seem to start ball right of target. And to be fair, probably more pulls than draws, particularly with driver and longer irons. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Dave

Well it was quite a British Open and congrats to Zach Johnson. It wasn’t as history making if Jordan had won, or one of the amateurs but still had some. Zach joins a small group of golfers that has won the Masters and British Open so quite an accomplishment. Jordan will remember his 5 or 6 3-putts that he had in the third round that’s for sure. Take those away and he’s the winner.
You’re on a roll!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Love the videos Makes me laugh and learn at same time. Just need to have time to play. – Greg L.
Round one from the British Open is in the books and what a round by both Dustin and Jordan. Interesting that they were the two that were in contention in the US Open. The course looked very green and in great shape, quite unusual for a links course over there. The pros could fly the ball right to the pin and make it stop so that made for the lower scores. Then there’s Tiger. My oh my. It’s his worst round at St. Andrews ever they just said and he’s already 11 shots off the lead. I wish I knew what was going on inside his head but it seems to be something that’s preventing him from playing well. Long way to go but won’t it be something if Jordan wins to make 3 majors in a row. Imagine the press the next month then before the PGA Championship and the Grand Slam Wow!!!
Wow, Rory severely damaging his ankle while playing a friendly soccer game. Looks like he might be out for the rest of the year so what a shame. The world #1 can’t play for a long time now. Always sad when a player in his prime gets injured. Guess it’s good for Jordan and Tiger but how sad.
Hi everyone.
People have been asking me for several months now about Tiger’s game and what I see. Love him or hate him, he’s sure great for TV ratings and more people watch when he’s playing. I just shot a video that will be up on the site soon about the changes he’s made and it’s pretty interesting. 3 things. He’s moved closer to the ball like he was 15 years ago and that’s letting his swing get more upright which is what he needs. Taller folks like him need that. Second, he’s moving off the ball better during his backswing. In the last year he wasn’t getting behind the ball enough. Lastly, he’s getting a slight pause at the top of his backswing like he used to. When he doesn’t pause he looks to quick and jerky and gets ahead of the ball which causes his pushes. He doesn’t have it grooved yet but his good swings over the weekend were more like his good swings were years ago. Interesting for sure.
I had a fun teaching day on Sat. My first student hit a great shot on our 125-yard 12th hole and almost made an ace. The ball stopped an inch from the hole. My next student an hour later had a neat one too. She was about 40-yards from the practice green and miss-hit her wedge. It bounced off my cart, went sideways, bounced up onto the green and…..went in the hole! What a crazy game but they were both excited.
Hey Roger, good hearing from you. Yes, most folks have trouble hitting the driver, simply because it’s so much longer. As you know, for years the average length of a driver was 43 inches. About 20 years ago they started making them 45 inches long. In theory, a longer shaft will hit the ball farther but if the person swinging it isn’t controlling it well they’ll hit it poorly and lose distance. You could shorted it down an inch or two for sure. It’ll make the head feel a bit lighter but if it helps you square it up and hit the sweet spot then it’ll help you. Nothing wrong either, as we’ve discussed during your lessons, to leave the driver in the garage and use your 3 wood off the tee. Being shorter, and more lofted you’ll hit it better, and higher and might get more distance than a driver. A slower swing requires more loft to get enough backspin on the ball to keep it airborne, and the 3 wood will do that for you. Let me know.

Steve, I have trouble hitting my driver. Do you think it would help to shorten the shaft to that of a 3 wood? Thanks.
Well, Tiger shoots 73 at Memorial. Not too bad but about 9 shots off the lead. Do you all think he’ll come back or is he on the way out? Lots of opinions on both sides.
Hope you all have been enjoying my latest video tips. I sure have a lot of fun doing the goofy intros. I filmed a bunch of new ones the past few days so keep logging onto the site to see my latest craziness.
Next week we begin filming a new, full-length video of what exercises you can do at home and the gym to improve your golf game so I’m really looking forward to that.
Thanks Art, I love hearing that. Being a member of the site should feel EXACTLY like that, that you’re standing on the lesson tee with me. When you’re not able to come out and see me for a lesson you can still help your game with all the video on the site. Glad your games getting better and that you’re having more fun too.
Just subscribed to your Pro Annual. Your lessons are just like being with you on the course. I especially like your tips. Haven’t tried the bare feet practice yet but it makes sense. I’m going to really enjoy and profit by your mirror image golf swing tips and lessons.
Hey Steve,
I thought you’d enjoy seeing this, it’s the final standings of our Winter league and I ended up on top of the leaderboard thanks to your great lessons. I’m heading back North in a few days so I’ll stay in touch during the summer and will look forward to seeing you again next season.

END OF SEASON FINAL LEADERBOARD RESULTS 2015
After 23 weeks of play in the BSGAC Men’s Winter League the final day’s play was necessary to confirm the top players in each flight. There was opportunity for upset in both flights but in each case the top player secured his position with a strong finish.
Blue Flight leader Jim Williamson from Canada, slammed home his claim to season winner with a season high Stableford points score and a season high bonus point score of 55 adding to his score with a skin and two birds and a CTF. Guess he saved the best for last!
It was sure a great Masters and Jordon Speith was amazing. What a solid four rounds he put together. I was most impressed how he played the course so smart. When he got in a little trouble, he hit his second shot into a place where he could pitch the ball close to the hole on his third shot and he did so brilliantly many times to save his par with a 1-putt. I sure key on that with my own students and in many of the tips on mirror image. We all hit bad drives from time to time, the trick is not to try the miracle shot that might lead to a big number. Ken Venturi used to tell me this; “Don’t lose the tournament on one hole” You can always recover from a bogey, but making a triple is going to be problematic. Can’t wait for the US Open now.
Steve;
Hope your vacation in CA goes well.
Question about your recent putting video. Tried eyes-closed and got better results! Used your suggestion and looked at the hole for even better results. THX! I did not understand your comment not to use these on the course, only the putting practice area. Please advise.
Gary
Hi Gary,
You certainly CAN do this when you play if you want to, especially if you’ve been rolling them in the hole nicely. There have been some pros on Tour that putted this way a few years ago.
I think looking at the ball during the stroke is the more ‘normal’ way to putt, since we look at the ball on all our other strokes like our full shots, pitches and chips. Your brain is so used to seeing the ball on all these shots that it might not quite understand NOT looking at it on the putts, but again, if it’s working for you there’s no reason not to.
Keep it going and please keep me updated on your progress.
My family and I just got back from a week in California. My sister works in Santa Barbara so she was our tour guide. Hollywood, Yosemite and Carmel. Last Friday we went to Pebble Beach which was always a dream of mine. Didn’t play, but the pro there let us drive around the course and take photos. Simply amazing place and the 18th hole is really something. Really neat walking in the same place as the greats of the game and thinking of the magical moments that have happened there.
Nice comment here from one of my Canadian students, Pete B. about the plugged lie in the bunker tip.
Steve showed me this years ago and it also works good getting out of sloped drainage ditch, and more of a pitch shot. Congrats on your double eagle yesterday.
Pete
For Jimmy and your question about the shoulder turn. I posted an answer that day but for some reason it didn’t show up, so here it is.
During the backswing your shoulders basically turn level, or horizontal as I describe. Now, since you’re bent over from the waist during your address position and your left shoulder, being a lefty, is lower than your right, the shoulders are not actually level to the ground, but are level to their beginning position. They turn level around the angle of spine. So, your right shoulder will be lower to the ground than your left but it’s because of the spine angle. Now, during the downswing when you’re coming into the ball, they shoulders now become much more vertical than they were going back. The left shoulder is much lower than the right as your head stays back while your lower body drives. I tell my students to think to; “turn level on the backswing and then vertical on the downswing. Again, it’s not totally horizontal or vertical but it’s a good thought. Give it a try and keep in touch.
Hey everyone. I had a once in a lifetime event today when I was doing a 9-hole playing lesson with one of my long time students, Bruce Lowy. I was playing along and we got to our 13th hole, a 510-yard par-5. I made a……TWO ! A Double Eagle ! Driver, 6-iron, BOOM, in the hole. I’ve certainly never done that before so it was pretty exciting and really nice to do it in front of my student. Made my day for sure, and Bruce had 3 birdies himself so he did great too.
Steve I am 60 years young ! Left Handed –Only way to go ! I am in my 3rd year of golf . What a experience . After numerous books , videos ,and all the other info on golf – Some good — I now have your books and have joined your site . What a refreshing way to teach this challenging sport ! I have a question . On the takeaway
Does the lead shoulder turn on a horizontal plane or does it work down ?
Thanks Jimmy
Hi all. New tip coming in a day or two, featuring one of my students. We’re talking about getting power in your downswing by using your lower body properly and Elaine does it really well.
I’m excited to that in the past week I’ve partnered with PA Golf, out of Switzerland and it’s CEO, Peter. Peter is one of the most known clothing designers in Europe and his clothes and shoes are really something. He’s sending me a bunch of his clothes and I’ll feature them in my upcoming videos. Check my facebook page at; Mirror Image Golf Swing
You can see some of them and the new super duper driver that he’s sending me. Gold plated believe it or not so it’ll be fun banging that one out there.
Congrats to my student Steve S. who just had his best game of the season so far. His nice comments are below.

Hey Steve, I wanted to give you an update after our lessons.
After two disappointing games followed by lots more practice trying all my “new stuff”, it finally came together yesterday. I posted my lowest score this year.
Turning my “Zipper” improves daily with practice, and I’m hitting longer and straighter drives.
Putting is getting closer with the new grip you showed me too. Just went to your daily blog and will be applying “Train track” to next practice session.
Thanks !
Boy, this is a good day. I just got another one from my student Warren. He’s been on fire lately as his comment below shows. Great going Warren.

Hi Steve.
“FIRST TIME EVER”
Today I played and tried to keep my lower body a bit more quiet and the backswing and feel the stretch in between my upper and lower body as we worked on yesterday.
Our second hole is 517 yards and there was no wind. I hit my driver and then my 5- hybrid got on the green in two.
I two-putted for the birdie!
.
First time ever on a par 5 in two. ,Yahooooo….!!!!!
Thanks,Warren.

I just received a great question about my latest tip featuring Bubba from one of our members, so here it is, and my response below.
Steve:
Pro-envy comes with watching too much TV and not enough following your own common sense. I am intrigued by any left handed pro except maybe Mickelson. Bubba and Harmon set the table for me.
One TV instructor analyzed Bubba’s stance at the tee to show one thing that he does to get that incredible distance. Watson actually stands behind the ball.
In your book, which I re-read over the years, you said to forget the pros swing. But you can address the ball like they do. Any thoughts on Watson’s address, pls?
Gary
Hi Gary and thanks for the great question.
Yes, Bubba, like all pros, has some great things that the amateur can copy. Pretty darn hard to swing like him (I think I’d break in two) but his set up is pretty solid.
He’s hard to analyze since he seemingly never stands the same way twice. One time he sets up for a cut shot, then another, for a hook. He’s normally a bit open as he likes to fade the ball. He stands farther away than most amateurs probably but it works for him.
What you said about him standing behind the ball is what I also like the most. He gets his head and upper body (my Tilt) set well back so it lets him turn more. Nicklaus was way back too and had the biggest turn of his time.
I haven’t studied him in depth but he sure can hit it a mile and is good for the game.
Hope your game is good.

I love nothing more than hearing success stories from my students and members. I just got this great one from my student Warren, whom I teach quite often. Made me feel good for sure. Warren’s in some of our weekly video tips and is a strong supporter of all things Mirror Image.
Hi Steve,
Thought you’d like to hear a little story about a great hole I played after our last lesson.
Our newly re-designed third hole is 400 yards, a little uphill and usually plays in to the wind.
It is no.1 rated hole.
Yesterday I hit a 240 yard drive, which is great for me, and had 160 yards left to the hole.
It has a very large kidney shaped green with a huge bunker front right and a bunker back left.
The pin was at the very back, and was cut right behind the bunker with no room to miss.
Everybody, including me, usually ends up in the front bunker or hits the green and runs through to the back bunker. Even worse is if you hit the front of the green, the ball stays there and leaves you with a 100-foot putt.
I told my playing partner I was going play to “just off the right side of the green”.
I hit a perfect 6 iron pin high just right of the green. With my new confident chipping stroke I have, I then played a beauty to just 4-feet from the hole and rolled in the putt for a routine par.
I think that is the best hole I ever played.
Thanks for all your help!
Warren.
Loved getting this from one of my local students today. Made my day!

Hi Steve,
Just thought I’d let you know I took your advice and got my clubs re-gripped. Changed the putter back to a regular size rather than the thick one.
Result: Yesterday I had 7 pars in a row, 9 pars overall, for my best game ever – score 85.
You’re the best!
