Sand. It's gotten a bad reputation in golf. As kids we couldn't wait to get into it. Now we have a problem of how to get out of it. Consider this. While greenside bunkers are intended to "protect" the green (they do that quite well), fairway bunkers are really meant to save errant fairway shots from going astray and keeping the ball in play.

While fairway bunkers keep us humble, they kindly give us the opportunity to get back in the game. Check out this tip (inspired by my mentor, golf great Ken Venturi) and learn how to use this "ball saver." Would you rather be in sand or OB? Ask a pro.

Enjoy the game again,
