Why is getting out of the sand so difficult for a majority of amateurs? My mentor, golf legend Ken Venturi, had the answer. Based on traditional instruction you are told to get into an open stance, then open your clubface, then hit the sand behind the ball and it's supposed to go, well, toward the hole.
That does work . . . sometimes. But for Mr. V. that sure seemed complicated. He was always trying to make the game easier where he could. Check out this video and learn Venturi's simple sand secret.

P.S. We apologize for getting this out later than usual. I was told we needed to do some upgrades on our servers. All I know is I didn't get to wish everyone a happy Valentine's Day until now!

I love nothing more than hearing success stories from my students and members. I just got this great one from my student Warren, whom I teach quite often. Made me feel good for sure. Warren’s in some of our weekly video tips and is a strong supporter of all things Mirror Image.
Hi Steve,
Thought you’d like to hear a little story about a great hole I played after our last lesson.
Our newly re-designed third hole is 400 yards, a little uphill and usually plays in to the wind.
It is no.1 rated hole.
Yesterday I hit a 240 yard drive, which is great for me, and had 160 yards left to the hole.
It has a very large kidney shaped green with a huge bunker front right and a bunker back left.
The pin was at the very back, and was cut right behind the bunker with no room to miss.
Everybody, including me, usually ends up in the front bunker or hits the green and runs through to the back bunker. Even worse is if you hit the front of the green, the ball stays there and leaves you with a 100-foot putt.
I told my playing partner I was going play to “just off the right side of the green”.
I hit a perfect 6 iron pin high just right of the green. With my new confident chipping stroke I have, I then played a beauty to just 4-feet from the hole and rolled in the putt for a routine par.
I think that is the best hole I ever played.
Thanks for all your help!
Warren.
